About me
I’m Steven Quercia-Smale, an the founder of SQS Sport Psychology practitioner specialising in 1-to-1 mental performance coaching for athletes of all ages and abilities.
With five years of experience in sport psychology - including an MSc and BSc from Loughborough University, the world’s leading institution for sport - I use evidence-based approaches to help athletes and coaches achieve the results they’re aiming for.
I’ve competed at a high level myself, including running a 14-minute 5k and training in performance-focused environments. This experience gives me first-hand insight into the pressures, expectations, and emotional demands athletes face, allowing me to bring empathy, practical understanding, and grounded guidance to every session.
As an independent practitioner, you work directly with me. No generic programmes, no rotating consultants, and no production-line approach. Every session is personalised, flexible, and designed around your goals. I take the time to understand each athlete fully, creating a relationship where you feel supported, challenged, and heard.
My aim is simple: to help athletes perform better, feel more confident, and enjoy their sport more—by strengthening the mental side of performance.
